Prasidh Krishna will miss all five ODIs against New Zealand, starting November 4 in Auckland. His left hamstring has not fully recovered, a BCCI source told PTI on October 28.
Prasidh was picked for the first three ODIs subject to fitness clearance. He has not played since September 30, when he left the field after five overs in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati.
Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi is set to take his place for the matches on November 4, 7 and 10. Nabi, who earned his first ODI call-up for the West Indies series, was already named for the last two matches and is in New Zealand with India A. The BCCI has not yet issued an official release on the change.

The decision says less about the ODIs than about how a fast bowler’s hamstring has to be brought back, and in which format.
The injury is a strain, not a full tear. His next step already has a date.
“Prasidh is recovering well and he has his match simulation and fitness test lined up at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on November 1 and 2.”
BCCI source, speaking to PTI, October 28, 2026
The bigger reason he is sitting out the ODIs is the two-Test series that follows.
“Prasidh should be fully ready for Tests where he is required more than ODIs.”

If cleared, Prasidh is likely to play India A’s third unofficial Test from November 6 to 9. Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant are expected to play in that game too.

An ODI is the worst place to test a healing hamstring. You bowl a sharp new-ball burst, stand in the deep for twenty overs, then get the ball back and are expected to hit top pace from the first delivery. Prasidh’s day in Guwahati followed that exact script: four new-ball overs, a long wait, one over in the 31st, then off the field.
A four-day game works the other way. Long spells keep the body warm, rhythm builds over by over, and the medical staff can cap the workload without a result riding on it. That is why the November 6 game, not Auckland, is his real return. Get through a day of long spells there, and he walks into the Tests trusting his body again.
Why Auqib Nabi Gets the Call
Nabi made his ODI debut in the same Guwahati match where Prasidh got hurt. It was a hard start: 0/84 from 8.5 overs.
He rebuilt his case in Lincoln. In India A’s first unofficial Test, he took three wickets in eight legal deliveries with the new ball on the final day, finishing with 3/28 and six wickets in the match. New Zealand A hung on at 187/9 chasing 313 when bad light ended play, and touring selectors Pragyan Ojha and Ajay Ratra came away impressed.
That form follows a county stint with Surrey, set up to give him red-ball overs before the New Zealand Tests.
