Pandya Dube Khaleel Trade Claim Has No Official Backing From MI or CSK

Cricket News

A cricket YouTuber’s claim that the Pandya Dube Khaleel trade is done has no official backing from either Mumbai Indians or Chennai Super Kings. Pdogg, who runs the channel Pdoggspeaks, said on August 4 that Hardik Pandya will move to CSK with Shivam Dube and Khaleel Ahmed heading to MI in return. SportsClaus, a verified X account, picked up the statement and posted it with player images. Both MI and CSK have denied trade discussions within the past week, and no mainstream journalist or BCCI source has backed this.

The Dube + Khaleel combination is not new. Republic World first mentioned it on May 27. Aakash Chopra listed it as one possible CSK trade package on July 3. Asianet Newsable included it among MI’s listed demands in early August. The same two names keep appearing while the rest of the proposed deal, whether it includes Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, or cash, keeps changing.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan directly addressed the Pandya speculation on July 1.

“I am currently in the US. We have not spoken to anyone and all that is being said about Hardik and CSK is untrue.”

MI followed with their own denial on August 2, the second time the franchise rejected trade reports.

“Our post-season review is currently underway, and we are looking into all aspects of the team. Contrary to reports, we are not engaged in conversations regarding player trades; any trade would only be possible once the review is complete.”

The only confirmed IPL 2027 trade so far is the Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav swap between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Everything else, including this Pandya deal, remains unconfirmed.

What Dube and Khaleel Would Give Mumbai Indians

Insider Read:

The trade rumour has gained attention because Shivam Dube and Khaleel Ahmed fit two of Mumbai Indians’ biggest needs. Dube offers an Indian middle-order power-hitter who can contribute with the ball, while Khaleel adds a left-arm pace option that MI currently lack. That squad fit explains why the same package keeps resurfacing despite changing reports. For Chennai Super Kings, however, losing both players would leave major gaps in batting and bowling during a rebuilding phase. Despite the discussion around its cricketing logic, the proposed trade remains unverified, with both franchises publicly denying any talks and no credible journalist confirming the claim.

Dube has been with CSK since 2022 and was part of India’s T20 World Cup winning squads in 2024 and 2026. His IPL 2026 output dropped to 150 runs in 8 innings, but his value in any trade is the role he fills, not one season’s numbers. Khaleel was CSK’s primary powerplay option before a Grade 2 quadriceps tear ended his IPL 2026 after five matches in April. He is 28 and would need to prove his fitness before any deal could go through.
