Sahab Yuvraj Singh’s UPT20 Signal: 41, 91, 43 in 3 Innings for Kashi Rudras

Cricket News

Sahab Yuvraj Singh has scored 41, 91, and 43 in three consecutive innings at UPT20 2026. The Railways domestic cricketer, bought at the Agra auction before the season, has become the most dangerous batter in Kashi Rudras’ title defence.

His 91 off 56 balls against Kanpur Superstars on August 21 is the third-highest individual score in UPT20 history. It came when every other batter around him failed.

Kashi Rudras were 46 for 4 inside eight overs against Kanpur Superstars. Three of the top four were back in the pavilion. The scoreboard was collapsing, and the defending champions were staring at a sub-120 total.

Sahab Yuvraj Singh did not change his approach. He stayed at the crease, rotated strike, and waited for the right balls. His half-century came first. Then a 64-run fifth-wicket partnership with Shubham Chaubey rebuilt the innings entirely.

He finished with 91 off 56 deliveries, hitting seven fours and five sixes. A late burst from Arnav Baliyan (29 off 12) pushed Kashi to 167 for 6. Sunil Kumar then took three wickets in the defence, and Atal Bihari Rai forced two run-outs in the final over to seal a seven-run win.

“The situation demanded patience and my focus was to stay till the end and give the team a strong total. Shubham and I understood that we had to rebuild the innings, and once we got through that phase, we could attack. I am very happy that I could step up when the team needed me and put up a defendable total. The bowling unit then did a fabulous job to defend it.”

He was named Player of the Match.

The very next day told a different story for the team, but not for him.

On August 22 against Gorakhpur Lions, Kashi Rudras were bowled out for 138. Pacer Vasu Vats took four wickets. Spinner Vishal Nishad ripped through the middle order with figures of 4 for 19. Gorakhpur chased the target in 14.4 overs, winning by eight wickets.

Sahab Yuvraj Singh top-scored again with 43. He and captain Karan Sharma put on a 43-run second-wicket stand that briefly stabilised the innings. Once Nishad removed him, the batting order fell apart. No other Kashi batter could build a partnership.

Even in an eight-wicket defeat, he was the last line of resistance.

Three innings in a row now tell the same story. Against Gorakhpur Lions on August 18, he opened with 41 off 25 balls and gave Kashi a 50-run platform before Karan Sharma’s unbeaten 92 took over. Against Kanpur, the 91. Against Gorakhpur again, 43 in a losing cause.

He was not a retained player. Kashi Rudras picked him up at the Season 4 auction in Agra alongside Mohammad Sharim, Vaibhav Choudhary, Vijay Yadav, Virat Jaiswal, and Manav Sindhu. He plays for Railways in domestic cricket, where he has represented the side in both first-class and List A matches. Before this season, he was part of the Meerut Mavericks setup.

None of that background suggested he would become the batter holding the defending champions together.

There is a specific skill that separates a batter who can score 91 from 46 for 4 in a franchise T20 from one who scores 91 on a flat pitch with the scoreboard already healthy. At 46 for 4, you are not batting with set batters. You are batting with the lower order. The bowlers smell blood. The fielding captain has his best options in play. Every ball is an event. A Railways batter who has spent years grinding through Ranji Trophy sessions carries one advantage into this situation: he knows how to occupy the crease when nothing around him is working. That patience is not natural in T20 cricket. It is trained into you through long days in domestic cricket where survival is the first job.

What made his 91 exceptional was the switch. He absorbed pressure through the middle overs, then hit five sixes when the time was right. That gear change, from red-ball patience to franchise acceleration on the same surface in the same innings, is something only a batter with genuine range can execute. Most domestic batters can do one or the other. He did both in the space of 56 balls.
