Aakash Chopra’s latest WTC points table breakdown on his #AakashVani YouTube channel has gone viral, with fans summing up his verdict on Pakistan as “even grace marks won’t save them.” Pakistan sit bottom of the 2025-27 WTC standings at 6.67%, the lowest PCT of all nine teams. Twelve months ago, Chopra himself predicted the opposite.
“Pakistan have a favorable draw again. Win in the West Indies and Bangladesh, compete a little in England, and beat Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and South Africa at home. Pakistan have a good chance.”

West Indies and Bangladesh. Those were the two away series Chopra expected Pakistan to win. Pakistan lost both.
Chopra hedged that prediction in the same video. The hedge turned out to be the more accurate reading.
“However, I have said that about Pakistan earlier as well when their away series were in the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. However, they didn’t win a single series at home.”

Pakistan’s five Tests this cycle tell the full story. They beat South Africa in the first Test at Lahore in October 2025 and briefly sat at 100%. Then came four straight defeats: the second Test against South Africa in Rawalpindi, both Tests in Bangladesh, and the first Test against West Indies at Tarouba where Jayden Seales took 5/20 to bowl them out for 120 chasing 211.
The Bangladesh series carried an additional cost. Pakistan were found 8 overs short in the first Test and docked 8 WTC points, the second-largest single-Test deduction in WTC history. Between losses and penalties, Pakistan went from 100% to 6.67% in nine months.
Shan Masood was sacked as Test captain on July 5, 2026 after losing 12 of his 16 Tests in charge. Babar Azam was reappointed for the second time. His first Test back as skipper ended in a 90-run defeat at Tarouba, extending Pakistan’s run to eight consecutive away losses.

Why Grace Marks Cannot Save Pakistan’s WTC Campaign

The WTC is built to reward consistency across two years. That format punishes exactly what Pakistan keep choosing: mid-cycle captaincy changes, squad overhauls, coaching restructures that reset the team every few months. At 6.67% after five Tests, even winning every remaining match cannot lift Pakistan into the top two. The numbers are finished.
Pakistan’s pace attack delivered in Tarouba, with Mohammad Abbas taking 5/22 and Mohammad Ali taking 4/50 across the innings. The bowling is not the problem. But the WTC does not reward talent in isolation. It rewards a settled team, a stable captain, and a system that lasts long enough to produce sustained results. Pakistan have had none of those three in any cycle.

Bangladesh, a team Pakistan would expect to sit above, are fourth at 58.33%. Even England, who have lost eight of thirteen Tests, sit at 24.36%. Pakistan are not close to anyone on this table.
Pakistan also finished bottom of the previous 2023-25 WTC cycle at 27.98%. Two consecutive last-place finishes raise a question Chopra himself asked during the 2025 WTC final: whether certain teams deserve to remain in the top tier at all. For Pakistan, no grace marks are on offer. Not from Chopra, and not from the standings.
