Vihaan Malhotra has 183 runs in three innings at the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026. His strike rate across the tournament sits at 194.68. Uday Saharan has back-to-back scores of 86 and 60 not out, both at strike rates above 200.
These are not age-group numbers. The Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 features six franchise teams playing at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, with senior Punjab cricketers like Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, and Shubman Gill in the rosters. Malhotra and Saharan are matching them, and in some matches, outscoring them.
Malhotra opened the tournament with a 52-ball century against Jalandhar Warriors. He hit 10 fours and 5 sixes, finished on 103 not out at a strike rate of 198.08, and was named Player of the Match as Fazilka Falcons chased down 187 in 17.4 overs with eight wickets in hand.
His second match against Amritsar Soormas produced 60 off 34 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Fazilka lost that game by seven wickets, but Malhotra’s 60 was the highest individual score in a team total of 182.
Three matches, 183 runs, average of 91.50. He sits third on the tournament’s run-scoring chart behind Prabhsimran Singh (311 runs) and Naman Dhir (205).

Uday Saharan’s Tournament
Saharan’s match against Jalandhar Warriors was one of the games of the tournament. Chasing 205, he scored 86 off 43 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 200. His teammate Ashwani Kumar took a hat-trick in the same match, removing Sukhdeep Bajwa, Prabhsimran Singh, and Randeep Singh. Bathinda Royals still lost by 3 runs off the last ball.
In a rain-shortened game against Amritsar Soormas (11 overs per side), Saharan scored an unbeaten 60 off just 20 deliveries at a strike rate of 300. Bathinda chased down 106 in 7.5 overs, winning by 8 wickets.
Sportskeeda reported three consecutive 50-plus scores for Saharan in this tournament. The two above are confirmed from scorecards.
This form did not arrive from nowhere. Weeks before the Punjab T20, Saharan scored an unbeaten 214 in the Punjab One Day final against Patiala, chasing down 394 to win. He finished that tournament with 601 runs in five matches at an average of 150.25, including three centuries and two double centuries.

Before the tournament began, Bathinda Royals batting coach Manish Bhatia was asked about his squad’s strengths.
“If there is one player to watch out for in this tournament, it is Uday Saharan. I genuinely believe he has a bright future.”

Both are products of the India U19 system but at different stages.
Malhotra is 19. Left-handed batter, right-arm off-break bowler. Born in Patiala. He was vice-captain of the India U19 squad at the 2026 U19 World Cup in Zimbabwe, where he scored an unbeaten 109 against Zimbabwe and took 5 wickets across the tournament. On the 2025 England tour, he was India U19’s leading run scorer with 277 runs in Youth Tests, including two centuries. Royal Challengers Bengaluru bought him at the IPL 2026 auction for ₹30 lakh.
Saharan is 21. Right-handed batter from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He captained India to the 2024 U19 World Cup final as the tournament’s leading scorer with 397 runs in seven innings. He has 655 runs in seven Ranji Trophy matches with two first-class centuries. His father Sanjeev is a BCCI-accredited coach. Despite all of this, Saharan went unsold at the IPL 2026 auction.

Most U19 stars fade against senior bowling because the margin for error disappears. At age-group level, a batter can play across the line, mistime a pull, and still clear the fielder standing ten yards inside the boundary. Against senior domestic bowlers, every gap shrinks. The pace is sharper, the lines tighter, the fields deeper. Strike rates above 190 against that level of bowling mean the batter is not surviving. He is imposing himself.
That is what separates Malhotra and Saharan from the usual U19 cycle of hype followed by quiet Ranji Trophy seasons. A 52-ball century and an innings at 300 strike rate are not adjustments to senior cricket. They are statements that the adjustment has already been made.
