Shivam Dube Stays at CSK? What Reports Say After the Hardik Pandya Trade Talks Broke Down

According to reports on September 23, Shivam Dube will remain with Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2027 and will not be involved in any trade deal. The report ends months of talk that made Dube the main piece in CSK’s bid for Hardik Pandya.

The update comes after earlier reports that CSK had offered Dube in a package for Hardik.

The report settles where Dube plays next season. It does not show what it does to a player to spend a whole off-season knowing his name was on the table.

According to a Hindustan Times report in late July, Mumbai Indians wanted Dube and 19-year-old Ayush Mhatre in exchange for their captain. CSK were not willing to release Mhatre and came back with a different package.

MI’s ask Shivam Dube + Ayush Mhatre

Dube scored 270 runs in 12 matches in IPL 2026 at a strike rate of 158.82. MI, for their part, denied trade talks with CSK.

CSK first denied the Hardik trade rumours in early July. CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz that no decision had been made.

“We have not taken any decision, and it is definitely not on the table as yet. We are aware which player is up for trade and we will discuss it once we complete our review of the season, which will only be after the ongoing MLC. There is still a lot of time for that.”

Neither CSK nor Dube has commented on the latest report.

Insider Read

A player hears about a trade long before anything is signed. Teammates bring it up, the phone fills with screenshots, and in August even Dube’s Instagram bio became a debate after fans claimed he had removed CSK from it, a claim others disputed. None of that stays outside the nets.

The harder part starts after the deal dies. Dube walks back into a franchise that was ready to trade him for another player, and everyone in that dressing room knows it. The only reply a franchise remembers is runs in the first few games, because that is what it looks at when the next trade window opens.

The pre-auction trade window is expected to close in the second week of December, ahead of the mini-auction. Hardik, meanwhile, has been linked with KKR, who are reportedly offering him the captaincy.
